Tromso Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that we have been selected for the “Hiroshima Unicorn 10” project, an initiative launched by Hiroshima Prefecture.
The project aims to create 10 high-growth companies over the next decade with enterprise value comparable to unicorn startups emerging from Hiroshima. Following a competitive selection process conducted by a panel of judges, Tromso has been officially chosen as one of the participating companies. The selection was also reported in The Nikkei today.
As previously introduced in our blog, Tromso’s new business strategy centers on biochar. We manufacture and sell biochar production equipment, provide farmers with practical know-how for biochar application, and conduct greenhouse gas analysis using gas chromatography. Through this integrated approach, we aim to quantify carbon reductions generated through biochar use and monetize carbon credits derived from these reductions. This business model is designed to support sustainable agricultural practices and contribute to improved farm income through value creation in decarbonization efforts.
In addition, Tromso manufactures and sells Grind Mill equipment (rice husk solid fuel production systems). By utilizing agricultural residues either as renewable fuel or as agricultural inputs such as biochar, we offer two complementary pathways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while supporting farmers’ productivity and income stability.
Building on the extensive data and experience accumulated to date, we aim to accelerate the social implementation of our model not only within Japan but also across ASEAN and African countries in the coming years.
We sincerely appreciate your continued support as Tromso advances these initiatives and works toward realizing a sustainable, decarbonized future.
